🌱 Welcome to a New School Year at SDVS! Get Connected with Counseling Clubs & Groups

Posted Date: 08/12/26 (03:00 PM)

Hello SDVS Students, Parents/Guardians, and Staff,

Welcome to a new school year at SDVS! Whether you’re returning to SDVS or joining our community for the first time, we’re so glad you’re here. As your Counseling Department, we’re looking forward to another year of connecting with and supporting our SDVS community.

As we start the year, we’re excited to offer Mental Health & Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Clubs and Groups for students in grades 9–12 throughout the fall and spring semesters. These groups are a chance to connect with others, build friendships, learn new skills, and have a supportive space to talk and connect.

🌱 Bring Change 2 Mind (BC2M) Club

Meets: Tuesdays, 12:00–1:00 PM
First Meeting: Tuesday, September 15
Ongoing: Third Tuesday of each month

BC2M is a student-led mental health club focused on reducing stigma, increasing mental health awareness, connecting students with resources, and creating a community where talking about mental health is welcomed and supported.

Meeting dates will be posted on the student calendar.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑💻 Virtual Community Groups (VCG) 🌐

Fall Group: 10-week series
Anticipated Start: October — Date & Time TBD

VCGs are small, supportive groups facilitated by your SDVS counselors. We’re currently looking for students who are interested in joining our fall 10-week group and hope to get started in October.

Students will have an opportunity to connect with peers while building skills around:

  • Friendships and confidence

  • Managing stress, anxiety, and emotions

  • Social-emotional wellness

  • School success strategies

  • Preparing for life after high school

Interested in joining? Let us know! Complete the SDVS Student Club Survey or reach out to our Counseling Department so we can get a group of interested students together. We’ll share the specific meeting day and time once the group is formed.

Come as you are—listen, share, learn, and connect!

Additional VCG opportunities will be offered throughout the school year, including the spring semester.

✨ Interested in Joining?

Students can also:

  • Let their teacher know you're interested.

Teachers and staff: Please feel free to share these opportunities with students who may enjoy or benefit from being part of a group.

💙 Need Support? Or Just Want to Connect?

As your school counselors, we’re here for more than just clubs and groups—and you don’t need to be having a problem to reach out to us. We want to get to know you, stay connected, and be a part of your support system throughout the school year.

If you’re having a hard time, feeling overwhelmed, or simply want someone to talk to, please reach out. And if things are going well, we’d still love to hear from you! Sometimes a quick check-in or conversation can go a long way.

A few additional resources are available:

  • Soluna: Free, anonymous, 24/7 mental health support for California youth ages 13–25, including coaching, wellness tools, and peer support.

  • SDCOE Virtual Wellness Center: Resources for taking a break, recharging, and supporting overall well-being.

  • 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: Call or text 988 for support during a mental health crisis or when you need to connect with a counselor outside of school hours.

Not sure what you need? That’s okay. Start by reaching out to us—we’re happy to listen, connect, and help you figure out what might be a good fit.

We’re looking forward to a great year with you and hope you’ll stay connected, get involved, and reach out along the way. 💙

Warmly,
Your SDVS Counseling Team
